Artworks by Pat Cross now in the 21st Annual Gala Juried Fine Art Exhibition.
The exhibition displays from April 19 through May 27, 2022 in the Great Hall Gallery at The Arts Center, with the exquisite architecture an artwork all its own. Designed by architect Walter F. Martens, it was built in 1928 by world-class masons with quarried sandstone blocks. The perfect setting for a fine art gala event, this serves as their biggest event of the year. The artworks are available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the participating artists and the Arts Center programs. According to the Arts Center, “We are committed to organizing and promotion excellence in art and offering a distinguished platform for all selected artists.”
In this exhibit, Juror James Swanson selected two artworks by Pat Cross into the show, original pen and ink drawings titled Hello My Friend, and The Town Drawing Room, each from her current ARP Grant Award series, Eleanor’s 2020 Vision.
To purchase the artworks, reach out to the exhibit coordinator Dani Cade, or visit The Arts Center, Randolph County Community Arts Council, Inc., Two Park Street, Elkins, WV 26240.

Figurative Paintings
In this series of oil paintings, I explore the artistry and visual language spoken by the human form. "People often talk about body language," says Pat Cross, "but I prefer to listen with a pencil or brush in hand. Then, I tend to listen more closely and pick up on cues I'd miss otherwise."

Floral Paintings
In this series of oil paintings, Pat Cross explores, up close and personal, both garden and wild blooms. "I notice that plants behave in certain ways, giving each flower a personality of its own," says Pat Cross, "So, I paint the bloom as I would a portrait." Collecting a floral painting brings the refreshment of a garden indoors to enjoy every season of the year.

Paintings of Birds
In this series, I explore the salient personalities and visual qualities of our feathered friends who add so much joy to our lives with their fanciful flitting, social quirks and cheerful music.

Landscape Paintings
In this series of oil paintings, Pat Cross brings the viewer along on an outdoor adventure. "When I hike a trail or paddle a lake, I scout for striking scenery to paint," says the artist, adding, "And I bite at the bit to share that experience with others." Pat Cross has explored some of our nation's most awe-inspiring geographies such as the Colorado Rockies, Oregon Cascades, and Appalachain Range.

Waterways Paintings
This series of oil paintings on natural waterways reveal the powerfully soothing and reflective nature brooks, rivers and tides. "I find the musical sounds of moving water as refreshing as I do the mercurial beauty of it," says Pat Cross. The view is forever changing as the water travels, leaving ripples, waves, foam or splashes in its wake.
