The changing season nudges this wild herd of mares and steeds to move on. The shifting glaciers of looming mountain peaks tell of altering patterns of light, wind and moisture, a signal for these horses to reach other places soon. Regardless of the wide variety of the otherwise independent horses, instinct draws them close together in a cohesive group when traveling afar.
In this painting, the artist layered glazes of oil paint to add luminance to the colors. Some areas are carefully blended while others are applied with a painting knife to set in contrast the rich texture. Painted on a 16” x 40” gallery wrap canvas, the image flows around the 1.5" deep edge, adding dimension to the piece.
This piece is wired and ready to hang in any well-lit area (oil paintings look particularly luminous with ample lighting). All materials in this oil painting are of archival quality for lasting impressions.
