SOLD! Carnegie Hall Patron Buys Pat Cross Art in the Lobby Gallery Featured Exhibit

While visiting Pat’s Feature Exhibit in Lobby Gallery in the Theater at Carnegie Hall, a patron came back to purchase a piece that she noticed at the launch of the show weeks earlier.

“I know just where I want to hang this piece,” says the Carnegie Hall Patron, “in the bedroom alcove across another artwork of glazed pottery with similar hues.” This is where art sales grow even more curious — how one artwork in a collection may prompt a new addition by an entirely different artist years later due to the color palate of the collector. Duly noted!

The artwork by Pat Cross that sold titles Easter Lily, an original oil painting mounted in a hand-built and fire-glazed stoneware frame made years earlier at Arts & Thoughts Studio in Teays Valley, WV. “The frame was just waiting for the right painting,” says Pat Cross, “which may seem in reverse of the typical process.” It makes sense for an artist exercising her creative license to work outside the realm of the typical in order to bring about a fresh idea, combination or approach.” It certainly worked in this case as the new collector can attest.
