Pat Cross Art SOLD in Tamarack's Life Art-Quatic Exhibit

The jurors selected three oil paintings by Pat Cross into this show, each from her series on natural waterways. During the Opening Art Exhibition, her custom framed oil painting titled View Downstream reached a new collector who felt attracted to the colors and sense of movement in the piece, tells Gretchen Carr, Tamarack’s Gallery Manager.

One challenge that a painter faces is that of enlivening a scene that would otherwise involve the fuller experience of all the senses, such as the senses of sound, touch, taste and smell.  “I typically punch the color and strategically exaggerate certain shapes to compensate for the senses not possible in a 2D picture,” says Pat Cross. In this way, the viewer gets the sense of what it is like to stand, for example, along the rippling waters on a crisp autumn day.
