Pat Cross Art in Unconventional juried exhibit.

The Love Hope Center for the Arts announced its current show, Unconventional, a collection of new (and very curious) artworks by artists living in the region. Love Hope Center for the Arts gives Fayetteville a new outlet for artists in the region to exhibit and sell their fine art and craft. By pushing the boundaries of a typical fine art gallery, Love Hope Center for the Arts incorporates an Appalachian spin to how we can view and experience the fine art world.

This exhibit, Unconventional, at the Love Hope Center for the Arts, is free and open to the public from August 7 through October 3, 2021.

The three artworks by Pat Cross displaying in the show include those from her natural waterways series. “These oil paintings mount in hand-built and kiln-fired stoneware frames with subtle specks to mimic river rocks,” says Pat Cross. “But before I fired the frames, when the clay was still leather soft, I pressed leaves into the clay. Then, after firing, I brushed on iron oxide to reveal the veins,” she explains. Now that is unconventional!
