Pat Cross Art in The River Juried Exhibit at the Parkersburg Art Center

You are invited! The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony launches at 5 PM on Friday, July 24 and the exhibit runs through September 5, 2026. Come celebrate with us the theme of this year’s show, America’s 250th Birthday in the Parkersburg Art Center located at 725 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Artists competing for entry into this show reside in West Virginia and Ohio, and is judged by Chris Krupinski, a world-renowned painter recognized for her masterful watercolors that consistently receive top awards in some of the most competitive art shows globally.

The artwork by Pat Cross juried into this show titles, Sun on My Shoulder, a custom framed oil painting. Here, a young woman basks in the dappled sunlight as she listens to the music of the forest brook behind her. Seeking refuge from a hectic week of errands and duties, she tilts back her head to let the sun bathe her shoulder. Soon, she breathes freely and grounds in peace.

“I painted this piece when I asked the question: what does freedom and peace actually look like?” says Pat Cross. She adds, “I feel grateful to live in this small town in the USA where I may freely enjoy the outdoors with relative safety as a woman.”
