Opening/Awards Presentation: July 31, 2022, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
The River 2022 fine art show encompasses professional artists living in Ohio and West Virginia, making the exhibit one of the most competitive in the region.
The exhibit jurors Ardine Nelson of Ohio State University and Alison Helm of West Virginia University selected two artworks by Pat Cross into the show, each original oil paintings from her latest series, Eleanor’s 2020 Vision.
The paintings by Pat Cross Juried into the show are large, immersive oil paintings, Stepping Stone and Amazing Graze. The two artworks juried into the show are each large oil paintings. “Sometimes, a larger work allows the viewer to step into the scene and relish the immersive experience,” says Pat Cross.
Stepping Stone shows a forested creek where a woman in a summer dress stepping out onto a rock to steady herself until she sees her next step. In the painting, Amazing Graze, an evening storm subsides, encouraging a group of deer to graze the freshly washed field.
To view or purchase the work, visit the Parkersburg Art Center at 725 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101, or call the Gallery Staff at (304) 485-3859.
This program, Eleanor’s 2020 Vision, is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Arts, Culture and History and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
