Pat Cross Accepted into
Oil Painters of America


Oil Painters of America (OPA), a national association of representational oil painters, has accepted Pat Cross of Sunriver as a new member. OPA was founded in 1991 by Shirl Smithson primarily to focus attention on the "lasting value of fine drawing, color, composition and the appreciation of light".

 

To become a member, the artist submits artwork for review, and, if the work aligns with the high standards of OPA, the artist is accepted.

Cross’s artwork included Alexandria Musing, one of the few works chosen for the national juried show, Nude 2001, and Jurying Easels, selected to show in the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Fine Art Department at the OSU/COCC Cascades Campus.

 

“To me, the visual language spoken by the human form is the most intimate and expressive I know,” says Cross of her favored subject. “It is the translucency, buttery consistency
and color brilliance of oil paint that allow me to translate that language onto canvas. n
